[03 Sep 2009|12:27am]
If anyone knows how to search within a livejournal for something, please help! I lost a draft of a play very dear to my heart that I wrote about my mother titled "There Are Memories Here" and am pretty positive I posted it at some point on here. There are just way too many entries and it's impossible to pinpoint when I did it. Anyone know how to do an internal LJ search?

Thanks...

The Five Love Languages

My primary love language is probably
Physical Touch
with a secondary love language being
Quality Time.

Complete set of results

Physical Touch: 10
Quality Time: 8
Words of Affirmation: 6
Acts of Service: 4
Receiving Gifts: 2

Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

then saying a prayer for our country in the most important day of our lives. i've said it a thousand times, but get out there and VOTE!!!

and now begins a very long day of waiting and praying and anxiousness. it's scary... there is too much at stake. way too much.

i grow increasingly nervous about the upcoming election: now just one week away.

i cannot urge you enough to get out there and cast your vote. this will be the most important election of our lifetime. our country could crumble with the wrong candidate and his running mate in office with the wrong man (and woman) in office, we will find ourselves run by bigots. people with hearts too small to love and care for every citizen: despite their race, sexuality, religion, what have you. the future of our country is at stake. and with that - our lives.

i don't get political often here. but i'm frightened. i'm frightened for my future, the future of my neice who was just born, the future of my friends and of my family. i'm frightened for our country.

we're all equal under God. ...right? so vote. votevotevotevoteVOTE. please.

this woman is a senator. and she's running for a second term. and she says that homosexuals have killed over 100,000 people.

i can't  accept this. i can't accept that ANYONE has to live in this country and be a second rate citizen because of sexuality or race or religion or belief. i can't accept that our ELECTED leaders can openly say such disgusting, horrible things.

i'm afraid for this country. i'm afraid for the people who live here.

i don't understand tragedy
be it catastrophic or personal.
i don't understand two thousand souls
buried under the rubble of one crumbling life.
where does it originate?

when i was little,
God bowled with the Angels and everytime He'd get a strike
the sky would light up with bright yellow bolts.
two days ago a man was struck
dead
on a street nearby.
(i didn't know him, but the sirens told the man that told the paper
that told me over coffee and a danish in the morning.)
i don't understand death
be it small or grandiose.

when i was a child you didn't step on a crack
(for fearing of breaking your mother's back)
and all those lines you'd avoid lead to the eventual SNAP
and your mother's bones are failing her:
a rapid, paralyzing arthritis - early onset.
i don't understand pain
be it  a scab or a stab.

when i was a boy you held your breath
and crossed a finger when you passed a cemetery
so the ghosts couldn't find you.
and now we drive by unnoticing. a thousand souls remain in an invisible limbo
that we barely seem to acknowledge in our
gas-guzzling hybrids.
i don't understand apathy
be it a universal affectation or that of just one man.

and now i hear a siren and i cross my heart
to a God i'm not sure i believe in.
i need to so i can survive. (that's a sad fact.)
but in doing so i ask
and ask
the why
why
(countless phrases ending in a ?
answered with a                                   )
why.
i don't understand life
and its pain and strife and sorrow.
i don't understand the ordeal of it all,
the waking up mad or sad and rarely glad.
i don't understand the notion of having
to get up and face another day
of binge & purge, binge & purge just to feel alive when
the hollowed out eyes of someone who doesn't understand
and who doesn't believe
and who is barely holding on
looks back at you from the mirror
and says,
"help."

so i take my number...

...and wait.
